J'an Ane Jinder was a female Jedi Guardian of the Old Republic and was somewhat of an archaeologist as well. J'an Ane Jinder traveled across the galaxy seeking out ancient or rare artifacts that might be of some interest to the Jedi Order. On one such quest for an artifact from Malastare, J'an Ane was on the planet of Mrlsst, home of the Mrlssi, an avian species known for their sense of humor and a love of knowledge.

In a Mrlssi spaceport to charter a ship, J'an Ane was offered a discount on the ship if she could solve the Mrlssi steward's riddle. The riddle involved the Mrlssi starship designers and their starships, and three offworld clients. Using just a few pieces of information, J'an Ane was required to figure out which Mrlssi designed which starship for which client. However, J'an Ane was a Jedi Knight, and such a puzzle shouldn't cause J'an Ane too much trouble to figure out.
